what I learned

I learned a lot in EDM 310 this semester.I learned that google is a very useful tool. Not only as a search engine but also as a tool for teachers. I learned how to set up a blog and a website. These are things that I would not have done if not for this class. I also learned to use power point which may also be a useful tool in the classroom.

Top ten Blogs

The blog I read was called the "IvyGate".It includes imformation on diffrent Ivy leauge schools. The first paragraph includes imformation about a highly competitive scholarship called the Rhodes scholarship. Many ambitious seniors apply for it every year only a few recieve it. There is a listing of diffrent Ivy legue schools and the recipiants of the scholarship in that school.
This blog would be useful for someone seeking to go to an Ivy league school.It is iformative it has news and information about the diffrent scools.It would not be useful for classroom purposes. It is not a blog a teacher used for his or her classroom.

itunes university

It is a free tool that allows instructors and administrators acsess to educational audio. This is designed for students within a college or a university using itunes store.The tool is easy to use. It can be used to capture audio of core lectures.

Im not sure how I feel about itunes university. Im not very familiar with all the functions of itunes so im not sure how useful it would be for teachers and students.However based on what I read it sounds like a very useful idea.

Duke using ipods

Duke university began passing out ipods to the incoming freshman as an experiment.
The sucsess seemed to be high. The students were able to download things on to their ipods which were useful to them in the classroom.They even began to use things such as the alarm clock settings to wake themselves up for class.
I honestly have mixed feelings about using ipods in the classroom. Personally I do not own one myself.I am not sure what the long term benifits would be.I really didnt know ipods had some of the capabilities the mentioned.I will probably have to research this topic further before I can have a response.

here is a link to this blog. IT is really hard finding international blogs but here is a spanish 1 and two teacher that uses blogs. I found her blog very interesting she describes her classes and personal stress in he blogs. She also has a whole list of things about herself in them.There wasn't any picture on her blog that I could post.

the future

I still hold the same opinion that I had after reading the first article.Technology is taking the place of reading and writing. Americans are stedily becoming more dependent on technology that often we dont think for ourselves.Reading is no longer an intrest and this makes writing difficult.
I do agree with what Dr.Strange is saying.Technology is advancing and changes are going to happen.We will just have to adapt and move on with our lives.Reading and writing skills may not be as much of a priority for educators as things like computer skills and programs.
I do not completly agree with the direction technology is taking us but Im willing to adapt. Times are changing, and I might as well change with them.Don't get me wrong I believe technology is good in many ways.I myself am one of those technology dependent individuals.I rely on calculators and enjoy a good telivision show from time to time. As a future teacher I would like to consider reading still an important aspect of education.

I found the article very interesting,because I have often thought about the many ways technology enables our generation.Watching the news is the sole way many people catch up on the current events,using the news paper as just a way to find coupons.

I do enjoy reading a good fiction book every now and then, but when it comes to current events and news I find myself to be more of a watcher and listener. I am very dependent on the television for my news. This article makes me think can technology possibly be a bad thing?

using blogs in the classroom #1

This is an example of a teacher who uses blogs in the classroom.The title of it is room 313. It belongs to a fourth grade class.The teacher has many useful resourses for both her parents and students.

She has educational stories for the children with pictures. She has a write up about huricane katrina.It also contains a picture about a sculpure in central park and an article along with it.The blog also contains show and tell by the children.

Acsess

Acsess is a tool initiated by Governer Riley and Dr.Joseph Morton education superindendent.It is a new innovative way to provide distance learning.It provide coursework that is not currently avaliable to our high school students. It includes things such as advanced placement and dual enrollment courses.
This is also used to provide instructors with aditional tools to help teach.This tool is for students and teachers.This will be very usful in providing a high quality education to our students.

Using alex in the classroom

I am excited to learn about Alex. As a teacher I know it will always be a challenge looking for new and fresh ideas in the classroom.Alex can help me with that. In addition to providing lesson plans for diffrent courses of study it also provides,web links for teachers.

Alex seems to be a useful tool for teachers. It includes many diffrent subjects. It contains lesson plans,and tools that would be very usful to a teacher in a classroom.With the demanding job of teachers this tool could be very useful for the classroom.
Alex offers professional studies, ideas and distance learning to help improve you classroom.I believe alex will be a very benificial tool not only for teachers. It may also make things slightly easier for them in the classroom.

The you tube video gave me a new perspective on the future.I have to ask myself am I ready to teach when the shift happens?I do not completly understand the full capacity of what the future will hold for me as an educator.The video gave me a good idea about the technology in the future.This may be difficult dealing with many honor students while still trying to learn the new technology myself. Is it possible there would be no need for teachers in the future?If computers are smarter than any human, could it take over my job? It is kind of scarey to think about this future. I hope that I am ready when it comes.

google and teaching

I am not sure how I feel about using Google in the future.So far I believe it may be very useful.I think as I learn more about it I will grow more comfortable with it and be able to apply what I learn to the classroom in the future.
